Maa Vishalakshi Shrine

As per Skanda Purana, Mata Parvati, in the form of Maa Vishalakshi accompanies Sri Viswanatha in Varansi. It is one of the very few Shrines, which symbolises the Shiva – Shakthi communion where Jyothirlinga of Sri Kashi Vishwanatha is located adjacent to the Shakthi Peeta, making it a powerful pilgrimage.

The gem of the right ear or the earring of Goddess Sati had fallen at this place. Hence, Vishalakshi Devi is also known as Manikarni Devi.

Also, Maa Vishalakshi means the one with wide eyes – showing compassion on her devotees with her divine grace.
